Fall Book Study
by author Dr. Robert Wicks

In a very busy society we often find ourselves suddenly realizing that the days and months are speeding by and we are longing to slow time down so we don’t lose ourselves in the rush. Dr. Wicks defines Prayerfulness: “Being in the present with your eyes wide open to experiencing God and life in dynamic new ways.” If you have ever had this thought, join us for a series of five Tuesdays to reflect, laugh and enjoy this book.  Leader of the study: Sr. Pat Larkin. Offering $5.00 per session $15 would include lunch ~ advance notice needed.

Offering: $5.00 per session, $15 with lunch 3rd Annual Oktoberfest

October 17 to 19
The Return of the Prodigal Son
Presented by Sister Concetta Fabo, OSF

This retreat may well be called, “The Merciful Father.” Both sons, not just the prodigal, received a superabundant gift of mercy from the all-embracing love of the father. A reproduction of Rembrandt’s masterpiece, The Return of the Prodigal Son, will be reflected upon and used for prayer with this beautiful and powerful parable of Jesus. The question is: Am I open to discover which son/daughter I am? Do I find myself in each character?

Offering: $150.00 Noel Retreat #1

Francis is one of the most venerated religious figures in history. Come and see why his example and beliefs are still pertinent today.

October 29:
Who Is Francis?
Prsented by Sr. Marise May
One of the followers of Francis of Assisi, Brother Masseo, once asked Francis in some puzzlement and amazement, “Why after you?  Why is the whole world running after you?”  What was there about this little poor man that attracted so many people in 13th century Europe?  Indeed, ever since his time, even to the present age, people of varied nations, cultures and faith traditions are drawn to Francis of Assisi.  Come and spend the afternoon exploring this famous personality and the secret of his lasting popularity.  See why you like St. Francis!

November 5:
Francis invites us to Poverty of Spirit.
Presented by Sr. Stephanie Ward
What is this Poverty of Spirit that is at the heart of Franciscan Spirituality? Francis invites us all to this attitude of heart which helps us freely recognize that God alone can fill our every desire

November 12:
Francis and the San Damiano Cross
Presented by Sr. Pat Larkin
Near the beginning of his conversion, St Francis used to pray in front of a cross in the small chapel of San Damiano. Later, when St. Clare and her followers lived in rooms added onto this chapel the cross was a focus of their times of prayer.

Nov 19:
Francis a Model of Peace
Sr. Rose Raymond Wagner
"Let them first have  peace in their hearts..."
In this session we will look at some of the ways that Francis lived the Peace Prayer and became a true "instrument of God's peace". How did he live his prayer as he interacted with creation, with all of God's people in his day?   In what ways does he ask his followers to do the same in our war-weary world today?

Offering: $5.00 Praying into the New Year
