Lenten Series - Wednesdays 10:00-11:00 a.m. during Lent:
February 13, 2007: Did Jesus Die For Me? Yes, but it doesn’t mean a free ride. The cross is a beginning,
a way to personal transformation that leads to redemption, not a magical eraser for immediate
salvation. Jesus said He is the Way, the Truth, the Life. On this planet and in our time the cross is His
way.
February 27, 2007: Could There Be Eucharist Without Crucifixion? Yes, but it might be celebrated
differently. History influences our faith expression and our ritual.
March 5, 2007: The Correlation Between the Cross and Evolution God so loved the world that he
gave his only Son. The cross is future oriented and not an object we cling to while striking our breasts.
The Cross is the passage, the way, the matrix for God’s planned evolution God immersed Himself into
matter to transform and divinize it.
March 12, 2007: The Cross and the Resurrection “We have been called to share in the resurrection
of Christ not because we have fulfilled all the laws of God and people, not because we are religious
heroes, but because we are suffering and struggling human beings, sinners fighting for our lives, prisoners
fighting for freedom, rebels taking up spiritual weapons against the powers that degrade and
insult our human dignity.” (Thomas Merton)
These four presentations will be given by
Father Jim Lauducci, priest of the Syracuse Diocese.
