Blessing of the Christmas Crib

Franics, recalling a visit he had made years before to Bethlehem, resolved to create the manger he had seen there. The ideal spot was a cave in nearby Greccio. For Francis, the siple celebration was meant to recall the hardships Jesus suffered even as an infant, a savior who cose to become poor for our sake, a truly human Jesus.

Come to see a Slide PResentation of Grecio and join with us in the blessing our Manger at Stella Maris Retreat & Renewal Center.

A Retreat for Veterans
Presented by Sister Concetta Fabo, OSF

And after the parade, with what message are our veterans left? This special time will be set aside for a spiritual experience of love, respect and gratitude for the tremendous sacrifices those who serve in the military made and make to keep us safe and protect our country with its bounty of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We will devote these hours to acknowledge the gifts our veterans have so freely given to each and every person in this country and in others.

Offering: free for Veterans Noel Retreat #1

December 4
Christmas Card Writing Day
Presented by Sister Concetta Fabo, OSF

How would you enjoy sitting comfortably at a table to write your cards—or organize your address book—in a peaceful, secluded place where there is soft Christmas music playing in the background?  The view of the lake outside is beautiful—and perhaps, the snow is quietly falling and transforming the view into a winter wonderland.  No telephones are ringing; no doorbells are interrupting; no meal preparations are calling.  The only activity is focusing on writing cards to family and friends.  Muse, as you will, over messages of love, care, affection and memories.  You are invited to do this in our lovely Conference Room at Stella Maris.

10:00 am to 3:00 pm

Offering: $35.00 Noel Retreat #1

December Date to be Determined
Prayer Shawl - and Sundry - Ministry
This God activity will enter its third year and, if you knit or crochet, you are welcome to join our group.  We have made afghans for veterans at Veterans Hospital, veterans at Chapel House in Auburn and have been making items to give to new mothers and babies at Joseph House in Syracuse when it opens.  As we are involved in this ministry, we are reminded of the inspired words from Psalm 139:13:  “You knit me in my mother’s womb.”  How about that for a way to describe God’s creation!  And your creativity?
For additional information or questions please contact Sister Concetta at the retreat center.

Advent Retreat Day
With Sister Concetta Fbo, OSF

For you, does Christmas arrive before you have had time to prepare spiritually for this great feast?  Why not set aside a day, December 13, to reflect on and pray about the God who unwrapped His heart for us by becoming human?  Come and spend time with a beautiful icon that expresses both the divinity and humanity of our loving God and the Gift of the Son.  Look with fresh eyes on the persons, including the midwives, and angels who appear in one iconic representation of the Nativity.
