Preached Retreat on the Psalms – Father James Gavin

The focus of this retreat is on the beauty and passion of the PSALMS. Daily conferences and Eucharistic Liturgy, a Service of Anointing and of Sacramental Reconciliation will be parts of this week.

Ever since we began in earnest to deepen our understanding of our Franciscan Charism, we have heard that what unites and bonds us together in love is not a common place, nor a common mind, but rather a COMMON HEART, i.e. the firm will to accept one another in our differences, to reverence one another and to walk together as sisters and brothers with one another and with all creation. Through input, time for quiet reflection, prayer and ritual, this retreat will explore the implications of living out of this Franciscan world view by breaking open the rich symbolism of the heart through the ages and considering the heart’s many facets as it applies to the mystery of Christ and
to our relationship to one another.

“WOMEN FOR OUR TIMES–MYSTICS AND REBELS, PAST AND PRESENT” is the topic of this retreat given by Edwina Gateley. During this week we will explore some of the women mystics who have gone before us and take a look at those valiant women – the Beguines of the Middle Ages – who forged their own path in a repressive society. We will also explore our own possibilities for new life!
